Clutch Housing Replacement Notes

For all clients using Drop-in systems there is a bit more maintenance on these systems due to how close they are to the water. All Hobie kayaks get water on the deck through spray due to the hull design under power. 

If the engines get water on them without cleaning and doing general preventive care, the clutch housing bearing can rust due to sitting water. Even though the bearings are sealed, not maintaining the system will lead to parts in need of replacing. The following notes address greasing the bearing and sealing the contact area with RTV to help with water intrusion.  A YouTube Channel Link has been added to show you how to disassemble and clean the powerhead.

Hobie Drop-in V3 (Drive Only)

These drives are custom made for all Hobie and Hobie style locks that appear on many different kayak manufacturers since the patent has expired.

Hobie Drop-in Drive

These drives will accept both the 35 and 50cc Powerheads.

 with an KB Mount

* These can be built with an aluminum or stainless prop.
** The position will lock straight using an FPV mount if you choose.
*** All of the drop-in models can be built as a RTR (Ready to Run).
